Cristiano Ronaldo has married Georgina Rodríguez in a private civil ceremony in Cascais, Portugal, a year after the couple announced their engagement.

Football superstar Cristiano Ronaldo has married his longtime partner, model and businesswoman Georgina Rodríguez, in a private civil ceremony in Portugal.

The couple confirmed the news on Tuesday, August 11, by posting a photograph on Instagram of their hands wearing wedding rings, captioned simply “C❤️G,” according to Portugal Resident and Euronews.

Ronaldo’s post had passed three million likes within 30 minutes, while a report from Euronews put the figure at over four million within 40 minutes.

Portuguese media reported that the wedding took place in the coastal resort town of Cascais, near Lisbon, where the couple own a home. According to their press office, cited by Euronews, the ceremony was attended only by the couple’s five children, with no other guests, fans, or media present.

A Decade-Long Relationship

Ronaldo and Rodríguez have been together for around 10 years, having met at a Gucci store in Madrid, where Rodríguez worked as a sales assistant, while Ronaldo was playing for Real Madrid. According to Euronews, the couple kept their relationship private at first before going public in January 2017 at the FIFA awards ceremony.

The couple announced their engagement exactly a year earlier, on 11 August 2025, when Rodríguez posted a photo of a large diamond ring on Instagram, writing in Spanish, “Yes, I do. In this life and in all my lives.”

Ronaldo has five children in total, two of whom daughters born in 2017 and 2022, he shares with Rodríguez, who has also helped raise his other children since the relationship began.

Kept Under Wraps

Despite intense media speculation in the days leading up to the wedding, the couple managed to keep the ceremony’s details secret until it was already over, according to Euronews, which described it as “the best-kept secret” of the year. The low-key civil ceremony contrasted with earlier tabloid reports, including one from Gulf News citing Jornal da Madeira, that had suggested the couple were planning a large church wedding in Ronaldo’s birthplace, Madeira, after the World Cup. That did not materialise.
