Opportunity: Call for Youth Technical Experts to Appraise the African Youth Charter @20 (Deadline: April 30, 2026)

Have you applied to become a Youth Technical Expert for the African Youth Charter @20 appraisal? Applications close on April 30.

The African Peer Review Mechanism, in collaboration with YouLead Africa and Restless Development, is inviting 20 young Africans to participate in a continental initiative assessing youth governance and development across Africa.

What’s it about?

This initiative marks the 20th anniversary of the African Youth Charter (AYC) and aims to evaluate how African Union frameworks—such as Agenda 2063 and youth governance strategies—are being implemented across member states.

Selected Youth Technical Experts will conduct research, participate in consultations, and contribute to a continental policy brief and the Africa Governance Report 2027.

Who should apply?

Applicants must:

  • Be 18–35 years old
  • Be nationals of an African Union Member State
  • Be active in civil society, academia, youth organisations, or community work
  • Have an interest in governance, policy, youth engagement, or development
  • Be available for 3–4 months (May–August 2026)

What’s in it for you?

Selected participants will receive:

  • A $1,000 stipend for the assignment
  • Official recognition as a Youth Technical Expert

Key Responsibilities

Participants will:

  • Conduct research and youth consultations

  • Contribute to policy reports and continental dialogue

  • Programme Duration: May – August 2026
