Her passing was confirmed by fellow actress Oluwakemisola Apesin, popularly known as Kemity, in an emotional Instagram post on Sunday.
“Everybody is back home; we left only you, IDERA Nimmyferrari. It is well,” Apesin wrote, indicating that friends and colleagues had returned from what appeared to be a funeral gathering. Ferrari’s younger sister has also since confirmed the death, ending earlier uncertainty around reports circulating online.
Tributes flooded the comment section following the announcement. Colleagues Victoria Kolawole and Dada Tolani posted heart emojis, while Adeola Adewoyin urged Kemity to remain strong. Actor Jigan Babaoja wrote, “May her soul rest peacefully,” and Biola Adekunle added, “It is well,” alongside a crying emoji.
Circumstances Remain Unconfirmed
As of the time of this report, the exact cause of death has not been officially confirmed by Adesanya’s family. However, unverified reports circulating online suggest she died from complications following surgery to remove fibroids, benign growths in the uterus that are common among women of reproductive age. Some posts online have claimed she fell into a coma after the procedure and did not recover, though no hospital, physician or official medical source had verified those details as of Sunday.
Her death has prompted renewed discussion online about maternal and reproductive health risks facing young Nigerian women, with commenters questioning why a routine fibroid procedure would result in such an outcome and calling for clearer information about what took place.
Buried at the Home She Never Got to Open
Viral videos circulating online show family members carrying her remains for burial, which took place on the grounds of a home she had just finished building in Sagamu, Ogun State. The timing has added a painful dimension to the loss: Adesanya was reportedly just days away from hosting a housewarming celebration at the same property when she died. Instead, the compound she had hoped to show off became the site of her burial.
A Rising Star in Yoruba Cinema
Nimmy Ferrari rose to prominence through her street-style vox pop interviews and collaborations with actors discussing their experiences in Nollywood, building a substantial following as both a screen performer and content creator. She worked primarily in the Yoruba-language segment of the Nigerian film industry, with credits including World Famous, Olowosile, Omo Agba and Iran Keta. She also ran Nimmy Ferrari Production and a YouTube channel, Nimmy Ferrari TV.
Her death adds to a series of recent losses within Nollywood, coming shortly after she had paid tribute to veteran actor Ogogo following his own death.
