Ogunwuyi announced his resignation in a letter dated October 12, in which he formally relinquished his appointment as chief of staff. His departure makes him the latest in a series of aides who have resigned from Makinde’s administration over the past two months.
Ogunwuyi Thanks Makinde for Opportunity to Serve
In the letter addressed to the governor, Ogunwuyi expressed gratitude for the opportunity to serve the state, describing his time in government as an honour.
“I respectfully write to resign my appointment as Chief of Staff to the Governor of Oyo State, with effect from today, 12th October, 2026,” he wrote.
He said he was proud to have contributed to the administration’s work, adding that serving the government and people of Oyo State had been deeply fulfilling.
“Serving the Government and the good people of Oyo State has been a great honour. It has been deeply fulfilling to be part of the exceptional team that has worked relentlessly to deliver the remarkable achievements of this administration,” Ogunwuyi said.
He also expressed confidence in the state’s continued progress while thanking Makinde for the opportunity to serve.
“As I take this decision, I do so with profound gratitude for the opportunity to serve, with confidence in the continued progress of Oyo State,” he added.
Former Lawmaker’s Resignation Follows Series of Departures
Ogunwuyi previously served as a member of the Oyo State House of Assembly and the House of Representatives before his appointment as chief of staff.
His resignation comes amid a series of departures by political appointees from the Makinde administration in recent months.
However, Ogunwuyi did not disclose the reason for his decision to leave office in the resignation letter.
