The All Progressives Congress (APC) is grappling with internal discord as the All Nigeria Peoples Party (ANPP) bloc, a key component of the party’s 2013 merger, threatened to withdraw over dissatisfaction with leadership decisions.

The bloc, influential in northern states, cited marginalization in recent appointments, including the selection of Nentawe Goshwe Yilwatda as national chairman, as a point of contention.

During a meeting in Kano, ANPP leaders demanded greater representation in party structures to ensure regional balance ahead of the 2027 elections.

APC national leaders, including President Tinubu’s aides, downplayed the threat, emphasizing ongoing reconciliation efforts.
