Team Nigeria has won 14 medals at the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games, with strong performances in para powerlifting, weightlifting and para athletics keeping the country among the top five nations.
The 2026 Commonwealth Games have entered the final stretch, with Team Nigeria continuing its impressive campaign in Glasgow after winning 14 medals, seven gold, five silver and two bronze to remain among the top-performing nations at the competition.
Nigeria currently occupies fifth place on the medal table as athletes continue to compete in athletics, boxing and other medal events before the Games conclude on August 2.
Nigeria’s medal haul has been driven largely by outstanding performances in para powerlifting and weightlifting, while the country’s para athletics team has also added to the tally with another gold medal and podium finishes.

Goodness Nwachukwu’s World Record Headlines Nigeria’s Run
One of the defining moments of Team Nigeria’s campaign came from Goodness Nwachukwu, who delivered a sensational performance in the women’s F42–44/F61–64 discus throw to claim gold with a 39.66-metre effort.
Her final-round throw shattered her own world record, earning Nigeria its seventh gold medal of the Games and reinforcing her reputation as one of the world’s leading para discus throwers.
The victory added another historic chapter to Nwachukwu’s Commonwealth Games career. At the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games, she also won gold in the same event after breaking her own world record, making her one of Team Nigeria’s most accomplished para athletes.
Nwachukwu further strengthened her campaign by adding a silver medal in the women’s shot put, making her one of only a handful of Nigerian athletes to win multiple medals at this edition of the Games.
Standout Performances Across Sports
Nigeria’s success has been powered by dominant displays in para powerlifting and weightlifting, where the country has consistently finished on the podium.
Weightlifters Edidiong Joseph Umoafia, Onome Omolola Didih and Rafiatu Folashade Lawal all struck gold in their respective categories, while para powerlifters Esther Nworgu, Folashade Oluwafemiayo and Riluwan Idris also topped the podium to boost Nigeria’s medal tally.
Silver medals from Roland Ezuruike, Esther Oyema, Rita Ferdinand and Ruth Asuquo Nyong further underlined Team Nigeria’s depth across strength sports.
