Tinubu approved 26 appointments across 10 federal agencies and commissions, including new boards for the REA and Fiscal Responsibility Commission
President Bola Tinubu has approved the appointment of 26 persons into the boards and management of 10 federal government agencies and commissions.
The appointments, announced in a statement on Monday by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, take immediate effect.
Among the appointees is Ayo Fayose, former governor of Ekiti State, named chairman of the board of the Rural Electrification Agency (REA).
Who joins Fayose on the REA and Wages Commission boards
Fayose will head the REA board alongside Alhaji Ahmadu Abubakar and Engineer Ilyasu Ibrahim Makinta as members and non-executive directors. Abba Abubakar Aliyu, the agency’s Director-General, and three previously appointed executive directors will also serve on the board.
Tinubu also appointed Major General Junaid Bindawa (retd.) as chairman of the National Salaries, Incomes and Wages Commission (NSIWC).
Olajumoke Okoya-Thomas, a former member of the House of Representatives, was named secretary of the commission. Other appointments into the commission include Dr Ogbole Ene Lilian (Benue), Oladele Olatubosun (Oyo), Yakubu Umar Barde (Kaduna), Dr Mai Adamu Yau (Borno), Ginika Florence Tor (Enugu), Engineer Lawrence Okoh (Edo), and Bello Morenike Iyabode (Kogi).
Other appointments across federal agencies and commissions
Tosin Adeyanju, previously Executive Secretary of the National Lottery Trust Fund (NLTF), has been redeployed as secretary of the Revenue Mobilisation Allocation and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC).
Tinubu also appointed Abuh Mohammed as Director-General of the National Population Commission (NPC), Akinola Odeyemi as Managing Director of the Nigerian Bulk Electricity Trading (NBET) Plc, and Anthony Godwin as chairman and CEO of the Nigeria Atomic Energy Commission (NAEC).
Julius Oloro, a former council chairman, was appointed CEO of the National Centre for Agricultural Mechanisation (NCAM), replacing Dr A.R. Kamal, who died in January.
Tinubu also constituted the board of the Fiscal Responsibility Commission (FRC), appointing Dr Abdullahi Maikano Saidu as chairman. Other board members are Mohammed Asmau, Mohammed Aliyu Makama, Dr Suleiman Gidado, Louis O. Ndukwe, Amaechi Ugwele, and Olaniyi Idowu Onikola.
Shuni Muhammad Dahiru was appointed Executive Secretary of the National Commission for Mass Literacy, Adult and Non-Formal Education (NMEC), replacing Professor Shu’aibu Shehu Aliyu, who was reassigned to the Petroleum Technology Development Fund (PTDF) in April.
To replace Mathias Byuan, the former Executive Director of Finance at the Federal Housing Authority (FHA), who resigned to contest the governorship election in Benue State, Tinubu named Gisaor Vincent Iorja, an economist and secretary of the Benue State Independent Electoral Commission (BSIEC), as Executive Director (Finance) of the FHA.
