The Bayelsa State House of Assembly has confirmed Peter Akpe’s appointment as deputy governor of the state.
Before being nominated, Akpe, a pastor, was the chief of staff to Bayelsa Governor Douye Diri.
Akpe, who was ordained as a clergyman by the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), has worked in both civil service and politics.
Prior to entering politics, he worked in the public services of Rivers and Bayelsa states.
From 2011 to 2019, Akpe was a two-term member of the Bayelsa state assembly, where he served as majority leader.
He also served as commissioner from 2008 to 2011 during the Seriake Dickson administration.
The clearance paves the path for his swearing-in as deputy governor.
