Kayode Egbetokun, the Inspector-General of Police, has named Benjamin Hundeyin as the force’s public relations officer.
Hundeyin, the Lagos police command’s spokeswoman, will succeed Muyiwa Adejobi, who was recently transferred to the Delta police command.
Adejobi issued a statement on Thursday announcing Hundeyin’s appointment as FPRO.
On Wednesday, the force announced Adejobi’s reassignment as deputy commissioner of police in charge of operations at Delta police command.
Adejobi has been the FPRO since February 2022, when he was appointed in an acting capacity to replace Frank Mba, the former force spokesperson. He was confirmed as FPRO in April 2022.
Hundeyin earned a bachelor’s degree in English Language from Lagos State University. He also holds a master’s degree in legal criminology and security psychology from the University of Ibadan.
Hundeyin was appointed as the Lagos Police spokesperson in March 2022.
He has also worked as the zone 2 police headquarters’ spokesperson in Onikan, as well as an administrative officer in the force’s public relations department at its Abuja headquarters.
In 2020, he was a member of the Nigerian contingent to the United Nations Peacekeeping Mission in Darfur, Sudan.
