Lionel Messi extended his record as the most decorated footballer in history by leading Inter Miami to their first MLS Cup victory.
The 38-year-old provided two assists as Miami defeated the Vancouver Whitecaps 3-1 on Saturday, sealing the club’s first MLS championship and adding another milestone to Messi’s incredible career.
Messi’s 46th trophy and third since joining Inter Miami. He has previously won the League Cup in 2023 and the Supporters’ Shield in 2024.
Inter Miami has become the 16th MLS franchise to win a championship in the league’s 30-year existence.
Messi’s trophy collection includes achievements in both club and international football. He won 34 trophies with Barcelona and three with Paris Saint-Germain before finishing his international career with the 2022 FIFA World Cup and several Copa América triumphs.
