Ousmane Dembele wins 2025 Ballon d’Or, beats Yamal, Raphinha

Ousmane Dembele, a Paris Saint-Germain winger, has been named the 2025 men’s Ballon d’Or winner.

The French winger beat Barcelona’s duo of Lamine Yamal and Raphinha to claim his first-ever Ballon d’Or at the Théâtre du Chatelet in Paris, France, on Monday.

The 28-year-old was stellar for PSG in the 2024/25 season, winning a sensational quadruple of trophies for the club.

Along with winning French Ligue 1, the French Cup, and the French Super Cup, he scored 35 goals and provided 16 assists as PSG won the UEFA Champions League (UCL) for the first time.

Since Karim Benzema in 2021, Dembele is the first French player to win the prize.

Barcelona midfielder Aitana Bonmati took home the Ballon d’Or Femeni in the women’s division. It was her third straight Golden Ball triumph.

For the second time in a row, Yamal won the Kopa Trophy, which is given to the best-performing player under the age of 21.

Gianluigi Donnarumma was named the best custodian, and Victor Gyokeres was named the men’s best striker of the year, earning him the Gerd Müller prize.

While Sabrina Wiegman, who guided England’s women to the 2025 Euros victory, defeated Justine Madugu of the Super Falcons to win the women’s best coach award, Chiamaka Nnadozie was chosen as the fourth-best custodian in women’s football.
