The inspector-general of police, Kayode Egbetokun, has redeployed Muyiwa Adejobi, the force public relations officer (FPRO), to the Delta state command.
Adejobi will be the deputy commissioner of police in charge of Delta operations.
Adejobi announced the deployment in a statement on Wednesday.
The force spokeswoman stated that arrangements have been made for the announcement of a new FPRO.
“The IGP has commended DCP Adejobi for his exceptional service as force public relations officer, noting his professionalism, commitment, and remarkable contributions to strengthening the image and communication strategies of the Nigeria Police Force,” the statement reads.
“The IGP expressed confidence that he will bring the same level of dedication and excellence to his new assignment in Delta State.”
Adejobi was recently appointed to deputy commissioner of police (DCP) from assistant commissioner.
In February 2022, Usman Baba, then IGP, appointed Adejobi as acting FPRO when Frank Mba, the former spokesperson, left for a course at the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS) in Kuru, Jos.
Muyiwa’s appointment as force spokesperson was confirmed in April 2022.
Before he was appointed FPRO, Adejobi was the Lagos police spokesperson from September 2020 to August 2021. He was eventually assigned to the force’s public relations branch at its headquarters in Abuja.
From 2008 to 2016, Adejobi served as the police spokesperson for the Ogun State Police Command. He also worked as the police spokesperson for Zone 2 Headquarters in Onikan, Lagos.
He has previously worked as operations officer, anti-bank robbery and anti-pipeline vandalism, Sagamu division, from 2006 to 2008; admin officer, department of operations, police headquarters, Ogun state, in 2008; and operations officer, department of operations, Lagos command, in 2017.
Adejobi obtained a dual honours degree in archaeology and geography from the University of Ibadan. He also holds a master’s degree in peace and conflict studies from the same institution.
