Tinubu departs Japan for Brazil, to stop over in Los Angeles

President Bola Tinubu has left Yokohama, Japan, on a state visit to Brazil.

In a statement posted early Friday morning, Tinubu’s special adviser on communications and strategy, Bayo Onanuga, stated that the president left the Asian country on Thursday.

The president will visit Brasília, Brazil’s capital, on August 24, with a layover in Los Angeles first.

Tinubu left Nigeria on August 15, stopping in Dubai, UAE, and arriving in Yokohama, Japan, on August 18.

While in the Asian country, the president attended the ninth Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD9).

The meeting was organised by the Japanese government and co-hosted by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), the African Union Commission, and the World Bank.

The conference focused on Africa’s economic development, as well as advances in the business environment and institutions as a result of private sector investment and innovation.

According to Onanuga, Tinubu attended bilateral meetings and interactive sessions with Nigerians in Japan.
