The National Union of Electricity Employees (NUEE) has urged its members to withdraw their services across the country.
The decision was issued in a document on Wednesday, signed by Dominic Igwebike, acting general secretary of NUEE.
According to the group, the decision was made following the expiration of its ultimatum about personnel welfare issues to the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN).
The national minimum wage has not been implemented, workers are casualized, there are no working tools or materials, staff salaries have not been paid since April 2025, and there are no operating cars, according to the NUEE.
The union also charged the TCN with overlooking problems resulting from its unbundling, not providing personal protective equipment (PPE) since 2021, and not paying retirement benefits on time.
“It is unfortunate that the TCN Management has decided to handle these issues with kid gloves and lack of regards for the hard-working staff of TCN,” the group said.
“This, they have displayed without any defined road map(s) to addressing them.
“We cannot continue to fold our arms while we watch our rights being vehemently violated and Nigeria Electricity Supply Industry (NESI) going down the drain.
“To this end, the Union is compelled to withdraw its services.
“Members are hereby directed to withdraw services to such time that the Management is ready to discharge its obligations towards the workforce.”
The association said the directive takes immediate effect and urged members to ensure full compliance.
