The United Kingdom will raise visa fees for visitors, students, workers, and residents.
The UK Home Office said that visa fees will increase by up to £222 from April 8.
The hike is part of a larger package of measures targeted at limiting immigration. The government also intends to implement tighter restrictions for asylum seekers and migrants.
The measures include offering unsuccessful asylum seekers up to £10,000 to voluntarily leave the country.
Authorities would also withhold taxpayer-funded housing from migrants caught working illegally.
The government has also implemented a “emergency brake” on student visas for migrants from Afghanistan, Cameroon, Myanmar, and Sudan.
Shabana Mahmood, the UK home secretary, stated that the decision was in response to an increase in asylum applications from people of those nations.
Under the new price structure, short-stay visas for stays of up to six months would cost £8 more. The application price will increase from £127 to £135.
Visit visas for periods of up to two years will increase by £31 to £506. Five-year visit visas will increase by £55 to £903. Ten-year visit visas will rise by £69 to £1,128.
The UK government will also raise application expenses for British citizenship. The cost of naturalisation will rise from £1,605 to £1,709.
The fees for settlement visas will also increase. The standard route to a settlement visa will increase from £1,938 to £2,064.
The visa allows foreign nationals to live and work in the UK before applying for indefinite right to remain.
Visa fees for persons receiving care from relatives in the UK will rise by £222, to £3,635. Settlement visa expenses for refugee-dependent family will rise from £28 to £452.
Work visa application fees would also rise under the new arrangement. Skilled worker visa applications lodged outside of the UK for periods of up to three years will increase from £769 to £819.
Long-term work visa applications will experience similar percentage increases. The adjustments will apply to both the primary applicants and their dependents.
Student visa fees will also rise. The basic student visa will increase by £34 to £558. The graduate route visa fee will rise from £880 to £937 for both primary applicants and dependents.
