The All Progressives Congress (APC) has wrapped up its 8th national convention in Abuja, retaining Nentawe Yilwatda as national chairman and Ajibola Basiru as national secretary.
Delegates at the convention, held at Eagle Square, also elected a new National working committee (NWC) through a consensus arrangement that was endorsed by party stakeholders.
Ben Nwoye was elected deputy national chairman (south), taking over from Emma Eneukwu following internal consultations within the party.
Party sources said the decision was driven by zoning considerations, with Enugu State Governor Peter Mbah playing a key role in securing Nwoye’s emergence.
In his acceptance speech, Yilwatda stated that his re-election was a call to greater service and vowed to maintain unity within the ruling party.
“We are ready to serve, ready to lead, and we are ready to build the party, together with the nation,” he said.
He also stated that the new leadership will not “fail or falter” in carrying out its duties.
President Bola Tinubu, Vice President Kashim Shettima, governors, members of the National Assembly, and other party officials attended the convention.
