President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the postings of 65 ambassadors to Nigeria’s diplomatic missions abroad, including 31 non-career and 34 career envoys.
The ambassadors-designate were earlier confirmed by the Senate in December 2025.
According to a statement issued on Friday by the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the appointments cover several countries across Africa, Europe, Asia, the Americas and the Middle East, as well as Nigeria’s Permanent Mission to the United Nations.
Among the non-career ambassadors approved are Senator Grace Bent to Togo, Senator Ita Enang to South Africa, Victor Ikpeazu to Spain, and Reno Omokri to Mexico. Others include former Minister of Health, Prof. Isaac Adewole, to Canada; Olufemi Pedro to Australia; Ayodele Oke to France; and former minister Abdulrahman Dambazau to China.
The list also includes Lateef Kayode Are to the United States, Jimoh Ibrahim as Nigeria’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, and Yakubu N. Gambo to Saudi Arabia, among others.
Career ambassadors posted to various missions include Nwabiola Ezenwa Chukwumeka to Côte d’Ivoire, Ahmed Mohammed Monguno to Egypt, Abdussalam Habu Zayyad to Senegal, Ibrahim Danlami to Kenya, and Wahab Adekola Akande to Switzerland.
The Presidency said the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has already received agrément from the United Kingdom for High Commissioner-designate Aminu Dalhatu, while France has also granted agrément for Ambassador Ayo Oke.
It added that nominations of the remaining envoys have been conveyed to their respective host countries for approval in line with diplomatic procedures.
President Tinubu also directed the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to immediately begin the induction programme for the ambassadors and high commissioners ahead of their deployment.
