AI Use in Nigeria Hits 93%, Well Above Global Average – Google

According to Google, Nigerians are not only embracing but also leading the global charge in artificial intelligence (AI).

In its report on Tuesday, titled “Our Life with AI: Helpfulness in the Hands of More People,” Google stated that Nigerians are using AI tools for everything from education to entrepreneurship, expressing great optimism about the technology’s future.

According to the poll, 88 percent of Nigerian individuals have used an AI chatbot, up 18 percentage points from 2024 and much higher than the worldwide average of 62 percent.

According to Taiwo Kola-Ogunlade, Google’s communications and public relations manager for West Africa, the findings demonstrate how Nigerians are creatively leveraging AI to open up new prospects.

“It’s inspiring to see how Nigerians are creatively and purposefully using AI to unlock new opportunities for learning, growth, and economic empowerment,” Kola-Ogunlade said.

“This report doesn’t just show high adoption rates; it tells the story of a nation that is actively shaping its future with technology, using AI as a tool to accelerate progress and achieve its ambitions. We’re committed to ensuring that AI remains a helpful and accessible tool for everyone.”

According to the research, although learning is now the major worldwide use of AI, Nigerians are expanding its use to include personal and professional growth.

According to Google, 93 percent of Nigerians use AI tools to study or grasp complicated concepts, compared to 74 percent worldwide.

According to the survey, 91 percent rely on AI to assist their job, while 80 percent utilise the technology to investigate new business prospects or career changes, which is nearly double the global average of 42 percent.

According to the survey, around 91 percent of respondents feel AI is increasing how people learn and access information, compared to approximately 65 percent internationally.

“95% believe university students and educators are likely to benefit from AI,” the report said.
“Compared to the rest of the world, Nigerians are significantly more optimistic about the potential of AI.”

According to the survey, about 80% of Nigerians are more thrilled than apprehensive about the prospects of AI, compared to a nearly equal global split of 53% excited and 46% concerned.

According to Google, enthusiasm levels reach 90 percent among Nigerians who use AI “a lot” in their everyday lives.
