The federal government has mandated drug testing as an additional requirement for employment in the public sector.

On Monday, the directive was given to permanent secretaries and chiefs of extra-ministerial departments/parastatals via a statement.

Segun Imohiosen, director of information and public relations at the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (OSGF), said in a statement that the new conditions are part of ongoing efforts to combat the growing threat of illicit drug use and its consequences for national development and security.
