Accord Party approves Adeleke for Osun 2026 gov primary

The Accord Party’s screening committee approved Governor Ademola Adeleke to participate in the party’s governorship primary, which is taking place in Osogbo on Wednesday.

The development was confirmed in a statement by Ibe Thankgod, the party’s National Organising Secretary and chairman of the screening committee.

According to Thankgod, Adeleke met all of the nomination requirements and was consequently cleared as the party’s sole candidate for governor.

He also to the governor as a “worthy gubernatorial aspirant” for the party.

The certificate of clearance was presented to Adeleke by the committee chairman.

In response, the governor thanked the screening committee and party leadership, stating that he was prepared to lead the Accord Party to victory in 2026.

“I am ready for the primary, and I am ready for the general elections.

‘We are winning by God’s grace,” he was quoted as saying.

Adeleke announced his defection to the Accord Party on Tuesday night, after resigning his membership of the People’s Democratic Party on December 2.
