President Bola Tinubu has instructed service chiefs and heads of security agencies to step up their efforts and achieve real results in the battle against insecurity across the country.
Tinubu talked to security leaders in a closed-door meeting at the Aso Villa in Abuja on Tuesday, immediately after unveiling the 2026 Armed Forces Remembrance Day symbol.
Those in attendance included Olufemi Oluyede, chief of defence staff (CDS); Wahidi Shaibu, chief of army staff; Sunday Aneke, chief of air staff; Kayode Egbetokun, inspector-general of police (IGP); Adeola Ajayi, director-general of the Department of State Services (DSS); and Mohammed Mohammed, director-general of the National Intelligence Agency (NIA).
The meeting lasted more than one hour.
Following the meeting, Oluyede praised the discussion as “very engaging,” adding that the president issued new directions aimed at obtaining “better and faster results” in combating banditry, terrorism, and other security threats.
The CDS reminded Nigerians that security services are working together more closely to guarantee a calm holiday season.
