Senator Natasha Akpoti invites Akpabio, colleagues to Kogi project launch

Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, a senator representing Kogi Central, has asked Senate President Godswill Akpabio and other lawmakers to attend a project commissioning celebration in her state, two months after returning from suspension.

Akpabio read Akpoti-Uduaghan’s invitation letter to the lawmakers in plenary on Thursday.

In the letter, the senator stated that the project’s launch, set for Sunday, November 2, in Ihima, Kogi state, would coincide with her second anniversary in the Senate.

“In marking my second-year anniversary as a serving senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, I wish to invite fellow distinguished senators to join me for project commissioning in Kogi state,” the letter reads in part.

She stated that the celebration would take place at her property, Plot 101, Jimoh Akpoti Street, Ihima, Okene, Kogi State.

Akpoti-Uduaghan further stated that senators travelling by air might land at the Obajana airfield before driving to Ihima.

After reading the letter, Akpabio complimented the legislator.

On February 20, Akpoti-Uduaghan and Akpabio had a heated dispute about seating arrangements in the upper parliamentary chamber.

She later accused Akpabio of sexual harassment, which the Senate president rejected.

After the committee on ethics, privileges, and public petitions adopted its report, the Senate suspended her for six months on March 6.

Since her return to the legislative chamber on September 24 after serving her suspension, the senator has gradually resumed legislative activities.

On October 18, she attended a legislative retreat hosted by the Ministry of Solid Mineral Development.

Earlier today, Akpoti-Uduaghan introduced legislation to establish a National Centre for Autism and six zonal centres across Nigeria to promote early diagnosis, research, education, and care for people with autism spectrum disorders (ASD).
