The federal government says it is dedicated to ensuring that all Nigerians benefit from the reforms implemented by President Bola Tinubu’s administration.
On Monday, Mohammed Idris, Minister of Information and National Orientation, spoke at a news conference in Abuja to commemorate Nigeria’s 65th Independence Anniversary.
He stated that Tinubu’s government is implementing the renewed hope agenda, which is organised around eight priority areas with the goal of promoting prosperity, peace, and national unity.
“Our trade surplus continues to grow, with an increasing share of contributions from the non-oil sector,” Idris said.
“Declining inflation, a strengthening currency, falling food prices, growing external reserves—all of these are more eloquent testament that we are on the right track.”
The minister stated that more than 500,000 postsecondary institution students have already benefited from the National Education Loan Fund (NELFUND), one of the administration’s key social projects.
Idris mentioned ongoing projects in energy and infrastructure, including the Kaduna power plant, the Siemens-supported Presidential Power Initiative, the projected distribution of seven million smart meters by 2027, and the World Bank’s $750 million renewable energy program.
He also mentioned key transport projects including as the Sokoto-Badagry road, the Lagos-Calabar coastal route, and the repair of the eastern rail corridor connecting Port Harcourt to Maiduguri.
According to him, additional investments are being made in solid minerals, oil, and gas, while over 1,000 primary healthcare centres have been renovated nationwide to improve access to medical services.
“As we celebrate 65 years of independence, let us steadfastly hold on to hope, unity, and patriotism. Let us never lose sight of the fact that the Renewed Hope Agenda is not just a slogan — it is a reality that is already touching lives and will continue to do so in the years ahead,” Idris said.
“It is now time for the entire country to reap the fruit of the seeds of reform that have been painstakingly planted. This administration is working for you, listening to you, and committed to ensuring that no Nigerian is left behind.”
He urged residents to continue to believe in the country and support government efforts, stating that unity of purpose was required to consolidate development and achieve national goals.
