The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) says more than 15 terrorists have been killed in precision air strikes around the Sambisa Forest in Borno.
Ehimen Ejodame, NAF’s director of public relations and information, confirmed this in a statement on Thursday.
According to Ejodame, the operation, conducted out on Wednesday under Operation Hadin Kai, targeted a hideout west of Zuwa after credible intelligence and confirmation surveillance.
He said that the enclave was home to fighters and leaders involved in recent strikes in the Bitta axis.
According to him, the strikes destroyed vital structures and did significant damage to the insurgents.
Ejodame said the action demonstrated the NAF’s professionalism and dedication to aiding ground troops and safeguarding Nigerians.
He noted that each successful strike brings the country closer to long-term peace by eliminating terrorist networks.
During a week-long operation in the northeast region, forces from Operation Hadin Kai (OPHK), with air assistance and local security, reportedly killed more than 20 militants on Tuesday.
Gujba, Gubio, Sabsawa, Whumtakum, Mandarari, Gajigana, Konduga, Banki, and Loskori Kura in Borno and Yobe states were the sites of the offensive from August 23 to 30.
During clearance operations, forces detained many rebel collaborators and suppliers and detonated improvised explosive devices (IEDs).
