… Demands NDDC Audit Report Be Made Public

The Rivers State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has fired back at Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, over his recent allegations against Dame Judith Amaechi, wife of former Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi.
Wike had claimed that Mrs. Amaechi received ₦48 billion from the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) to train women from the region and further accused former Attorney-General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami, of shielding her from investigation.
In a strongly worded statement issued by Darlington Nwauju, the State APC Publicity Secretary loyal to Amaechi, the party described Wike’s claims as baseless and malicious, accusing him of consistently dragging family members of political opponents into public discourse.
Nwauju challenged the Minister to initiate the release of the NDDC forensic audit report if he truly believes it contains evidence against Mrs. Amaechi. He insisted that the report should be made public so that Nigerians can judge for themselves.
“We empathise with Nigerians who have been entertained twice in 48 hours with a cocktail of lies, half-truths and double-speak,” Nwauju said. “The latest being the declaration by FCT Minister Wike that he would resign if the NDDC audit report does not indict Dame Judith Amaechi.”
He accused Wike of lacking respect for women and family values, stating that the Minister’s decision to bring the wife of a former colleague into political mudslinging reflected poorly on his character.
“This goes to show much about his personality. The shame of dragging other people’s wives into political quarrels while assuming self-importance confirms that the Minister has no regard for family structure and little respect for womanhood—including his own spouse,” Nwauju said.
The Rivers APC further questioned the sincerity of the Minister’s concern over the NDDC, pointing out that Wike had been a significant political player in the region during the period under scrutiny.
They also demanded that the audit report include a comprehensive list of cash disbursements and project awards allegedly linked to Wike and his allies during his influence over the commission.
“Let him also include, for public record, details of all awards and releases from the NDDC to his political associates and himself, especially while deploying 27 state lawmakers to fight personal political battles against the Government of Rivers State,” the statement read.
Nwauju added that the APC is particularly interested in the NDDC audit report, which he described as a calculated political weapon rather than a genuine accountability effort.
“These documents are already archived within the National Assembly, especially from the public hearings held in June and July 2020. The truth is out there,” he noted.
In a final jab, the Rivers APC suggested that the national leadership of the party consider appointing Wike as its official spokesperson at the upcoming National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting on July 24, or even as campaign director general for the 2027 elections.
“Let these appointments test his popularity and determine if he is truly an asset or a moral burden to the APC,” the statement concluded.
