Ekiti Deputy Governor Warns Political Appointees Against Disloyalty Ahead of 2026 Election

At Thanksgiving for Late Mother, Afuye Rallies Support for Governor Oyebanji, Cautions Against Sabotage

Ekiti State Deputy Governor, Monisade Afuye, has cautioned political appointees within the state against acts of betrayal and disloyalty, urging them to remain firmly committed to the administration of Governor Biodun Oyebanji as the political climate begins to shift ahead of the 2026 governorship election.

Speaking on Sunday at the Government House Chapel in Ado-Ekiti during the thanksgiving service in honour of her late mother, Olori Esther Adegboye, the Deputy Governor called for discipline, unity, and political focus among government officials. She emphasized the need for appointees to demonstrate integrity and gratitude to the governor, who she said provided the platform for their public service.

“It is a disservice for those holding office to play spoiler roles,” Afuye said. “There are gains in steadfast loyalty to the governor who gave you a platform to serve.”

The event, attended by First Lady Dr. Olayemi Oyebanji, government functionaries, royal fathers, and members of the Christian community, served as both a moment of reflection and a subtle political rallying point as the administration looks to fortify its base ahead of the 2026 race.

Afuye praised Governor Oyebanji’s stewardship, saying his performance has put Ekiti on the map as a model of governance. “To those inside government: be loyal and do what is right,” she urged. “Adversaries will always criticize, but by next year, we will jubilate over Ekiti’s growth.”

She further advised public officials to avoid political distractions and to focus on their responsibilities with dignity and humility, warning that the administration would not tolerate actions aimed at undermining its objectives.
